Phong Phu Pham
Phong Phu Pham and Söhnke Mücke were a new generation of kids who started skating at an early age and learned tricks very quickly.
So I quickly became aware of the two of them and we quickly came into contact with each other through regular skate sessions in the old I-Punkt hall.
At a contest in Lüneburg I then decided to bring the two of them into the team.
Of the two, Phong was the one who impressed with his pop and style. In contrast to Söhnke, he was a lot calmer and more chilled out. However, he always did his thing consistently and was generally reluctant to conform. So there was the odd discussion between the two of us, where I had to remind him of the principle of “give and take” and that it’s not always up to him.
As he was also a member of the Dickies team at the time, he regularly attended all the contests and was also able to present morphine with his skating. During photo and/or film sessions, he always showed full commitment and put his foot down.
At some point, the whole sponsorship circus didn’t quite suit him anymore and he was fed up with it. As a result, he left the Morphium team with mutual understanding and has been doing his own thing on the board ever since. We’re still in contact and I’m glad to have had someone like him on the team.
