Louisa Menke
Louisa Menke was also one of the first Morphium team riders and Klaas van der Laan brought her to my attention.
Klaas had told me about a girl who was doing kickflips from the 1.50 meter high miniramp in Groningen.
You have to understand that at the end of the 90s, girls actively skateboarding were still rather unusual. She was also the first girl I’d heard of who was ollieing gaps and even doing kickflips at the age of 14.
That was of course reason enough to bring someone like that into the team, and Klaas sorted everything else out with her. I then saw her skate live at the first demo in the old Aurich hall, where she also did a kickflip from the 1.60 meter high minramp to the amazement of all the spectators and skaters involved.
Over time, however, I realized that the contact between us didn’t really work very well. She was rarely present at other demos and we only saw each other at contests in the meantime.
Finally, she informed me about the offer from “Colorblind Skateboards”, a Dutch company, whose team includes some of her friends and acquaintances and which she would therefore like to join. Similar to Philipp Schmidt, I was totally understanding of this and so Morphium and Louisa parted ways.
