Keno Ringering
Keno Ringering comes from Aurich in East Frisia. There he attracted attention with his short stature and an oversized helmet on his head, but also with his skateboarding skills. His mentor at the time, Jan Meinhardt (R.I.P.), taught him a lot of miniramp and transition tricks, which later turned him into a very good all-round skater.
Keno was initially on the Mister Wilson Skateshop team, where I was team manager myself. So I was able to observe and get to know Keno quite early on and see how his skateboarding level got higher and higher.
I made him an offer as a flow team rider at the time, which meant he could get his boards cheaper through me.
Keno and his friends at the time, the “Nopain” crew, were also very interested in coming to Hamburg to skate the Hamburg skate spots. This meant that Keno and his boys were regularly at my place at weekends and during the vacations, making the Hamburg street spots unsafe together.
Keno has been able to improve his skateboarding skills more and more and has also been able to win more and more contests.
It didn’t take long for me to include Keno in the official team. He was also able to secure sponsors such as DVS Shoes, Ezekiel, Polstertrucks, Autobahn Wheels and Mantis Skateshop.
After Bülent left Morphium, Keno was the absolute figurehead for Morphium Skateboards for a long time. Through his contest successes and his media appearances, he pushed Morphium very strongly during this time.
After school, Keno completed his training as a retail salesman at the former Dogtown skateshop in the Aurich skate hall. He then bought the store from the then owner and opened his own store “Brix Skateshop”.
As he had a lot to do with his self-employment, skating became less and less of a priority. What’s more, his skate buddies at the time stopped skating, which is why he no longer had any motivation to continue skating actively.
When the store wasn’t going so well either and he sold it, he stopped skating. I am still in contact with Keno, as I probably spent the most time with him in connection with morphine, which also brought us together as good friends.
He is currently still an independent entrepreneur and franchisee of one of the largest German franchise companies in the fitness industry. He is currently in the process of planning a second location. Further locations are to follow in the future. Nevertheless, I hope to see him on the board again soon.
