Dennis Bohlken

Bad Zwischenahn (DE) - Team entrance 2000

At the beginning of 1999, the skate park in Oldenburg Kreyenbrück was rebuilt, where I regularly skated with various other skaters from the Papenburg and Leer area. At this time, Dennis Bohlken was also often on site. This led to the first personal contact.

Dennis was practically the local on the pitch and completely took it apart. I’ve never seen anyone shred through the park with such stylish lines as safely as Dennis did.

At some point, Dennis heard about the morphine thing and started making a video of himself with a few friends. When the video was finished, he put it in my hand and said that he was interested in skating for Morphium. I was super stoked about it. Afterwards I thought to myself that if he was really up for it, he could easily be at the top of every contest in Germany. So it was clear to me to bring him into the team.

A few months later, he was highly motivated to take part in a contest in the old Oldenburg station concourse. I was also on my way to the contest, and when I got there I was told that Dennis had taken a slam in the Practise and had to be taken away by ambulance. That was definitely bad. A short time later, I found out that he had shattered his entire knee during the slam and would never be on the board again.

This moment was definitely one of the most tragic in Morphium’s team history. I’m still of the opinion that if the accident hadn’t happened, Dennis could have enriched the contest scene in Germany a lot.
